Living in Green Valley is for Everyone
If you root around the internet very much you might just think that Green Valley, Arizona, is just a retirement community. It’s true that there are tons of amenities for seniors, but it’s a great place for techies who also enjoy the outdoors. With a reputation as a more relaxed and small-town version of Silicon Valley, a majority of the non-retired residents work in the tech and math industries. As many as 15 percent (in normal years) work from home as well.
While the median income is slightly lower than the national average, so is the cost of living. And if you bring your income with you — remote workers — you’ll be in great shape here. Plus, the housing costs are low and the crime rate is also low.
So, What is There to Do?
While many of the recreational facilities and events are geared toward Green Valley’s vast retirement community, there is still plenty to do in Green Valley. You can check out the Green Valley farmer’s markets such as the Heirloom market and the Hospital market. Nearby is historic Hacienda de la Canoa, the first campsite after the Anza expedition left Tubac Presidio. It is operated by the National Park Services. Or, you can take part in the Community Performance & Art Center. CPAC presents over 100 concerts and live theater productions each year. They also have an on-site art gallery featuring monthly exhibits. For the avid golfer, several public and private golf courses offer opportunities for play.
Of course, all the amenities of Tucson are just a short distance away, so you actually get the best of both worlds.
